· Bill Noyes announced that he would be willing to lead a trip to Canada by car on the day before Easter, April 7th, 2012 for a Sugaring Off Party in Sawyerville, Quebec, about a 3 hour drive from here. Bill and Linda have attended in the past and report having a great time. (Ask Bill about sugar on snow and chopsticks!)
o The group would leave here around 8:00 AM on Saturday to check in at the hotel and arrive at the Sugar House for the 1:00 Sugaring Off Party.
o For those who may be unfamiliar with the custom, a Sugaring Off Party is a celebration of maple syrup production featuring ‘sugar on snow’ (thick maple syrup poured over snow like sweet maple caramel) sometimes served with pickles (pickles? When the sweet’s too sweet, eat a pickle!). Homemade donuts dipped in syrup or spread with maple butter and other free refreshments are also served.
o No admission is charged but you may find lots of goodies to buy to take home.
o After the party, spend the night at a hotel and depart around 8:30 AM to arrive home around 1:00.
o For RSVP and information, please call Bill at 603-536-2350. Early notice is given as passports are required and take about 4 to 8 weeks to secure.
